Pi-Chi Chapter at Lake Erie College
Kappa Sigma is a social fraternity, open to male undergraduate students. This Pi-Chi Chapter at Lake Erie College provides social, scholarship, community service, and leadership opportunities to our members. Our fraternity bases itself on our four pillars for living as a better man: Scholarship, Fellowship, Leadership, and Service.
The Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded at the University of Virginia on December 10th, 1869 by five friends and Brothers. Since 1869, Kappa Sigma has grown to one of the largest fraternities with over 300 Chapters across North America, as well as the most preferred international fraternities.
Kappa Sigma at Lake Erie began as an interest group led by undergraduate member Brandon Logue and reached colony status at Lake Erie College on November 4th, 2007. The Pi-Chi Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded on Saturday, August 29th, 2009. On Charter Day, Kappa Sigma initiated 16 undergraduate members, 5 alumni members, and 2 honorary initiates.
Members have earned an aggregate GPA, higher than the LEC All-Mens’ Average during every semester since Colonization. Over the years, Brothers have completed over 2,000 hours of community service to the LEC and Painesville communities, including the LEC Welcome Back Concert, Painesville Parks and Recreation Fall Fest and Easter Egg Hunt, ODOT Adopt-A-Highway Program, Helping the Hungry Food Drive, and PancaΚΣ Breakfast. They’ve also raised nearly $10,000 for local and national charities, such as Chardon Angels of Hope, Habitat for Humanity, and Fisher House Foundation.
The Chapter has been recognized for their excellence by receiving the Founders Award for Chapter Excellence and Silver Bowls for Academic Excellence. In addition, it has received awards for Outstanding Single Service Project, Outstanding Communications Program, Chapter Academic Excellence, and Outstanding Pledge Education Program. Individual Brothers have been recognized with Scholarship-Leadership awards, Outstanding Grand Master Award, and Scholar Awards.
Kappa Sigma Fraternity is the most preferred college fraternity in the world with 18,000 members on 318 college campus throughout the United States and Canada and over 200,000 living alumni around the world. Annually, undergraduate members donate more than $3 million and 1 million hours to charitable causes, pledge more than 9,000 men and welcome nearly 7,000 new initiates to the Order.
